FDA approved SPRAVATO® for Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD)
with safety evaluated in over 1700 adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) across six studies: Five Phase 3 studies and one Phase 2 dose ranging study1
Depression is a life altering condition that often has profound effects on one’s self, relationships, and purpose. To have one’s energy pulled down through depression, dampens your ability to do life and feel the joy of life. Many struggle with having gone through multiple treatments for their depression only to find limited or no relief. This is called treatment resistant depression (TRD). Working with those who have struggled with this condition is what led Green Wave to bring this treatment to our services. We are excited to offer this FDA approved Spravato nasal spray treatment which is done twice a week for first four weeks as a loading dose, then once weekly. Treatment is further supported by our other various therapeutic modalities here at Green Wave. Research reveals this combined approach helps at least 75% of the patients with MDD/TRD find their freedom enhanced.
*Green Wave has become a REMS certified treatment center for SPRAVATO®
SPRAVATO® Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS). Because of the risks for sedation, dissociation, respiratory depression, and abuse and misuse, SPRAVATO® is only available through a restricted program called the SPRAVATO® Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) Program. SPRAVATO® can only be administered at healthcare settings certified in the SPRAVATO® REMS Program. Patients treated in outpatient healthcare settings (such as medical offices and clinics) must be enrolled in the program.
Potential Side effects and risks of Spravato include:
- Sedation, dissociation, and respiratory depression. Patients are monitored by trained individuals for these side effects.
- There is a risk for abuse and misuse with SPRAVATO®
- Increased risk of suicidal thoughts and actions (our staff continually monitors for this). Antidepressant medicines may increase suicidal thoughts and actions in some people 24 years of age and younger, especially within the first few months of treatment or when the dose is changed. SPRAVATO® is not for use in children.
- Depression and other serious mental illnesses are the most important causes of suicidal thoughts and actions. Some people may have a higher risk of having suicidal thoughts or actions. These include people who have (or have a family history of) depression or a history of suicidal thoughts or actions.
